Just like a newspaper article, you capture attention with the first two or three sentences. Make it count!

Don’t make your profile description too long. Some sites have a character limit, and some sites have a huge character limit! You don’t have to use all the characters available! What you’re going for is to capture interest in the first few sentences, list your positive qualities, list what you’re looking for, and end with a twist!

The following is a general list of what to include your profile description. Depending on the site, some of these items are things you can select from a drop-down list or check box when you’re setting up your profile. If they’re not, you can include them in your profile description if you wish.

These guidelines include, as per usual, a heavy dose of my subjective opinion. Never forget, you are the person best qualified to decide how you want to present yourself!

· Do write your profile in Word, and check spelling and grammar before copying and pasting it into your profile description. This is one of the most important things I consider, probably because I’m a writer. I want to see you care enough about me, your potential match, to present yourself in a grammatically correct…
