I ended an 18-year long friendship today. It’s pointless to present a compelling argument to Trump supporters. They are unable to see anything but his lies. Even after he incited an insurrection, this woman supports his “policies”. She voted for him because he’s pro-life. The man has likely paid for hundreds of abortions. He has a single policy: White Supremacy.
I am exhausted from trying. I am exhausted from being exhausted. I just cannot have this kind of cancer in my life any longer. Maybe I should have tried to salvage things. We’ve been through so much, decades of loving and supporting one another through some very bad times. But deep inside I knew I had to do it. I did a right thing in a very wrong world.
Me:
Do you support Trump?
Friend:
I’m not feeling well, can we talk later?
Me:
I’m sorry you don’t feel well. It’s a yes or no question.
Friend:
I support his policies, but I don’t support his rhetoric.
Me:
Actions speak louder than words.
