I ended a friendship over Trump. It was mutual. I’m sort of relieved. Sort of sad. It’s sad politics can be so divisive. But it’s good I’m clear on who I am, what I believe. But he is, too. I suppose there might have been a middle ground, if we were both willing to communicate. Instead, we both filtered our disagreement through a lifetime of hurt, rejection, and abandonment. But it’s all for good we’re over. Sometimes it’s just too hard to find consensus. That’s me giving up? Perhaps. Sometimes it’s just too hard.
