Sounds like a bad situation. Nice guys aren't stupid, they're nice. But us "nice people" need to learn how to value ourselves, so we can be of appropriate support to others in need. It takes time. Are you seeing a therapist? That certainly sped up the process for me. Take care of yourself, OK? Please. Don't let anyone steal your time, your dignity, or your peace of mind. Life is so incredibly incredibly short. And there's so much suffereing. I'm watching my mom die, a sliver a day, and it's excruciating. Work with a therapist to get you priorities in order, and that is, first and foremost, getting to know and love who you are, so it's no longer necessary to save people to feel good. Great advice, and it would be awesome if I could take it myself 100% of the time. So, my dear man, no judgment here. But, I must urge you to do the work. Hard as hell, but worth it.
