It’s been difficult to read the news the last few days. Some surmise that Trump’s cabinet picks are payback for the #MeToo movement. The whole thing sickens me. It is impossible to know how much this has set us all back, both men and women, because we are all affected by sexual assault.

I decided it’s time to revisit this ugliness. I pulled out just a bit of what I’ve written about the date rape. There’s so so much more. Perhaps I’ll post more over the next while. I don’t know. Does it matter how invalidating and dehumanizing the rape was? Will it make a difference to share the details? I don’t know. Probably not. Not in this ugly era we find ourselves in. So, I post for me. I do it to champion me.

After posting the Consent piece, I received some comments that prompted me to post this piece. It’s a grueling read.

This seems to have happened to all of us at some point in our lives. I was wondering just now if I’m safe from having it happen to me ever again, and the answer is no. Each situation is so unique and so nuanced, it’s so hard to lay down a boundary and be certain I’ve not given mixed messages. There’s such a fine line when things slip from consent to something beyond, when a man says something or touches me in a way that causes that adrenalin rush and I know I’m in…
