Yes he did have a TECA. He is estimated to be about 8 years old. His elderly owner died and her family shut up the house and left her cats to roam the neighborhood. He was on the streets for a couple years and people in the neighborhood were feeding him. A woman captured him and found a sponsor through the Humane Society. It is surmised he had trauma to the left side of his head, so he lost his eye. He continued to have chronic ear issues and a CAT scan revealed a total blockage. We raised about $2000 of the $4000+ surgery, so his sponsor paid the balance. She's into Smoky a good $10K. He had the surgery just a week ago today. He's doing well, but he hides a lot, so I'm not always able to give him meds on schedule, particular the antibiotic. I gave it to him at 9, and it's 2, so I have another 7 hours to worry about him coming out so I can give him his next dose on schedule. And man, do I worry. I've cried rivers over that little guy. We don't have the lab results on the tumor they found in the ear, yet, I'm hoping it's not cancer. He's been through hell numerous times. Talk about nine lives. Even if it is cancer, the surgery may have taken care of it. He has an Instagram and over 1000 followers @smokythepirate.
